Friday 5th August - day 12

Well we're in Wales!  We are now in Carmarthenshire, camping tonight near Llandovery.  It's become much more hilly so we're doing fewer miles each day, but we are still on target to reach St David's on Monday.  We've had some generous donations from people along the way.  One man kindly donated £10.  Tomorrow Ben's dad will be joining us and staying with us at the campsite. We'll be taking a bit of a rest tomorrow so that we can continue and finish our last two full days.  On Sunday night we will be walking to my grandmother's cottage near Maenclochog, Pembrokeshire where we'll stay the night.  It'll be good to have a hot bath and sleep in a bed again.

Day 8 - Tuesday 2nd August

Today we walked from Worcester to Leominster and we can now see Wales!

We were stopped by the radio car for BBC Hereford & Worcester and got ourselves o nterview on the radio –radio car happened to pass and interviewed us - by coincidence they were doing a feature on charities.  You can listen to our interview on BBC iPlayer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00j5q5r.  If you can't link go to BBC Hereford & Worcester and link to 'listen again' - Tony Fisher on the 9am show today.  We're about 20 mins in.

People have been supportive - one guy gave £10 in town when we walked through.

The landscape has definitely changed to hilly – a bit more testing but not too bad.  The so-called gourmet food isn’t!!  Breakfast this morning was meatballs, lunch a shop bought sandwich, and tonight: stew.

Our feet are holding up – not too bad.  Ben’s foot isn't too bad, he's using crutches uphill, but otherwise seems fine.

Made good mileage today and back on track after the problems with Ben's foot, passed through Market Harborough and got some donations from the people in the town.

Sorry about the lack of posts, we have just compleated day 4 of the original walk plan, but it is actually 6 days since we started, we have finally made it to home, roughly 130 miles into the walk and about a third. In the end we took two days of for Ben's foot to rest we have made good time in the last two days, only two thirds left

Day2, we set off from the campsite, which was in the middle of a zoo! last night we kept having monkeys chattering and seals barking at us. Anyway, unfortunatly Ben sustained an injury, dont know exactly what it is but it is something wrong with his left foot, because of this we made very slow progress and we made the decision to take a break, Dad picked us up in the van (because our car broke down on the way back from lowstoft, law of sod at its worst) amd we are now at home, we are going to go the cottage hospital to get the foot looked at, hopefully we shall be on the road again tomorow.

The first 25 miles have been completed.  We set off from the most easterly point of the UK, Ness Point in Lowestoft. We started at 9.30am.
Now pretty exhausted, but we achieved the first leg of the journey and we are still in one piece!

All my kit, + a weeks worth of food
Hello everyone, it is the day before we leave and all my kit is packed, there is so much that we are going to need! Luckily I have  managed to get the weight down a fair amount, so it shouldn't be too hard. I've been lent a sattelite beacon that shows our position every time we send a message so you can follow us, it will come up on facebook as a post from me.
